Facebook has done away with star-ratings and has replaced them with a Recommendations feature whereby a person answers “Yes” or “No” to the question, “Do You Recommend [ABC Company]? Visitors still have the same options to comment and upload photos and add tags. What does this change for businesses who want to use best practices in managing Facebook recommendations? Not much.
The rules of engagement with online reviewers are the same no matter the platform, though some of the management features are unique.Make sure you have your Recommendations feature enabled on your Company Page!
Respond to every review - both negative and positive. Be sure you’re logged in as your business, and not your personal profile.
Don’t get into Facebook fights. Take it offline before it spins out of control.
You can’t delete unfair or spammy recommendations, but you can quickly and easily report them to Facebook if you suspect that they are.
Encourage customers to post reviews on Facebook. Put signs on your countertop, embed links on your website, run contests. Have some fun with it!
